Eighteen travelers, many digital photography enthusiasts, participated in a 13-day special tour, including wildlife adventures, outdoor activities, cultural and historical experiences and shopping. This high adventure itinerary was specially developed by the South African Tourism, in conjunction with seven travel partners in China.
Seagate Technology(NYSE:STX)provided the entire group with FreeAgent® Pro and FreeAgent® Go portable storage solutions to digitally store images of the breathtaking natural landscape, and other sights discovered during the tour.
The visitors rode on elephants in Sun City and they were driven in open vehicles across Pilansburg to view and digitally capture the “Big Five” wildlife (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalos) – a thrilling experience for any first time visitor. Other events in the itinerary included a woodcutter’s tour through the Tsitiskamma forest, an ostrich adventure at Oudtshoorn, a shark cage dive and a bungee jump from Bloukrans Bridge, overlooking the meeting of the Atlantic and Indian oceans.
“I am very delighted that Seagate supported this trip with their FreeAgent storage solutions. It was a new initiative and received positive feedback from the media and participants on the trip. This collaboration brings tourism and technology together, providing a win-win situation for South African Tourism and Seagate. I look forward to a variety of collaborations with Seagate in the future,” said Mr. Manqoba Nyembezi, Attaché: Tourism, PRC and Hong Kong, South African Embassy, Beijing.
FreeAgent Go data movers brought great convenience to all travelers during the trip. In particular, the Ceedo software was able to store and manage various types of data, such as software, passwords, files, emails, Web favorites and Web history. Ceedo allows the FreeAgent Go to run on any PC.
Mr. Andrew Yang, country manager of Seagate China, said, “The reason that we sponsored products for this trip to South Africa was to ensure that photography enthusiasts and participants could capture the wonderful sights and experiences in South Africa without fear of losing any of their images. FreeAgent products offer true mobile solutions for all, allowing people to escape the confines of their desktop or laptop and freely access their content anywhere and anytime.”
Travelers have this to say
“In order to share the beauty of South Africa with my friends, I wanted to take high-definition and high-quality photos. Therefore, enough storage space is absolutely necessary,” said one traveler, IT engineer, Mr. Yang Tao. “When we were game – driving in Pilanesburg – we took many pictures in rapid succession whenever we saw lions, leopards and elephants and other wild animals there. Fortunately with the Seagate FreeAgent Pro, I could take as many photos as possible and not have to delete them nor be concerned about running out of storage while on this trip,” he added.
Another traveler, construction designer, Ms. Liu Bingying said: “In South Africa, the ‘Rainbow Country’, the powerful storage capabilities of FreeAgent Go helped me to record and store numerous exciting moments. Even now when I view the images taken during the trip to South Africa, it’s as if I am still travelling in beautiful South Africa.”
“As a photography enthusiast, I have image processing software that I love and it’s all stored on the FreeAgent Go product. Wherever I travelled in South Africa, I just simply plugged a FreeAgent Go data mover into any Windows computer’s USB port at the hotel, the airport or coffee shop, and I could edit and share the images wherever I went. My private information and personalized settings are all stored on the FreeAgent Go data mover, not on the host computer which is a major benefit.”
FreeAgent Go Data Mover

Simply plug a FreeAgent Go data mover into any Windows computer’s USB port at work, the airport, a business center, a coffee shop, or a friend’s house so that you have your personal computing experience with you wherever you go. When finished, your private information and personalized settings are stored on the FreeAgent Go data mover, not on the host computer.
