The following procedure provides the steps necessary to add the FreeAgent Tools software to your FreeAgent Desktop drive. This software includes diagnostics, power settings adjustment utility and a file backup utility.

Windows

Note: Though this is a simple procedure, it is recommended that you back up all critical data before continuing.

1. Download the FreeAgent-DT-WW.EXE file to your Windows Desktop.
2. Double click the FreeAgent-DT-WW.EXE file. A Setup window will appear.
3. Click Setup to start the install.
4. For help on using the software click the blue question mark in the upper left corner of the screen.

Macintosh

Note: Prior to installing this update, make sure that your External Drive is properly disconnected/shutdown.

1. Download the FreeAgent-DT-WW.zip file to your Mac Desktop.
2. Double click the FreeAgent-DT-WW.zip file. A FreeAgent-DT-WW folder will appear on your Desktop.
3. Open the FreeAgent-DT-WW Folder. Select all files/folders and copy them to the root of your FreeAgent Drive.
4. Open the User Manual in the Documentation\User manuals folder on the FreeAgent for information on how to install and use the software.
