Seagate Diagnostics for Mac is designed to check the overall health of your Seagate^® FreeAgent^™ drive for Mac. This utility only works on FreeAgent drives for Mac that have FireWire 800 interface ports (see port view below):

Note: This can also be installed on systems with earlier FreeAgent and OneTouch 4 drives that went to sleep on their own. This utility will install a driver to disable the sleep feature built into the drive; however, the diagnostic portion of the software will not test the older drives.

Note: Prior to installing this update, make sure that your External Drive is properly disconnected/shutdown.

1. Download the seagate_diag_mac.dmg file to your Mac (e.g., the Desktop). The Seagate Diagnostics for Mac window opens on your desktop.
2. Browse to and double-click the Seagate Diagnostics.pkg file. The Welcome window opens.
3. Click Continue. The Important Information window opens.
4. Click Continue. The Software License Agreement window opens.
5. Click Continue. You will be prompted to agree with the terms of the agreement.
6. Click Agree. Standard Install… window opens.
7. Click Install. You will be prompted to authenticate.
8. Type the administrator password and click OK. You will be informed that installing the software will require a system restart.
9. Click Continue Installation. The software installs to your system. When finished, the Software Installed Successfully window opens.
10. Click Restart. The software is ready for use.
