Seagate Named One of America’s Greenest Companies 2027
13 Oct, 2026
For the second consecutive year, Seagate Technology has been recognized as one of America's Greenest Companies by Newsweek, in partnership with Plant-A Insights Group and sustainability data provider GIST Impact.
The annual ranking recognizes organizations that demonstrate measurable environmental performance, transparency and accountability across key sustainability indicators. Companies are evaluated on more than 25 criteria spanning greenhouse gas emissions, water stewardship, waste management and sustainability disclosures.
The recognition underscores Seagate's commitment to responsible operations and innovation at a time when the world is generating, storing and using more data than ever before. As AI adoption accelerates and digital infrastructure expands, the challenge is no longer simply creating data, but maximizing its value while minimizing its environmental impact.
Today, data is one of the world's most valuable resources. Every AI model, scientific breakthrough, business insight and digital experience depends on the ability to store, preserve and access vast amounts of information. As organizations seek to unlock greater value from their data, the sustainability of the infrastructure that supports it becomes increasingly important.
That is where hard drives play a critical role.
While AI often captures headlines, it is the underlying storage infrastructure that enables organizations to retain, protect and extract long-term value from data at scale. Hard drives remain a highly economically efficient technology for storing data at scale, making them a foundational component of modern data centers.
As data center operators work to balance performance, cost and environmental goals, storage choices have become increasingly important. Storage choices can affect a data center's environmental footprint, making storage architecture an important consideration in large-scale deployments.
This intersection of sustainability and innovation is becoming increasingly important as the AI economy continues to evolve. Every AI workload consumes and generates enormous amounts of data, creating a growing need for storage technologies that can scale responsibly.
The America's Greenest Companies ranking was established to recognize organizations driving meaningful environmental progress through innovation, transparency and measurable outcomes. For Seagate, this year's recognition reflects a continued commitment to building the sustainable infrastructure needed to support the world's growing data ecosystem and the AI-powered future it enables.
