If you replace a faulty internal hard drive in your PC with a newer drive that has a larger capacity, you may notice that recopying your system from the Seagate Replica, reduces the partition size to that of the original, smaller internal drive.
The Seagate Replica tools can only restore to a partition size that is equal to the original hard drive size. This means that there a potential that your drive may have a lot of unallocated space after a restore.
To get around this issue, follow this procedure:
- Format the remaining unallocated space as a separate partition on the new drive (Instructions for Windows XP/2000) (Instructions for Windows Vista), (Instructions for Windows 7)
OR - Use various operating system tools to extend the partition/volume
OR - Use various third-party utilities to stretch the partition/volume
OR - Use DiscWizard to stretch the partition/volume
