Configuring the Server

The Seagate NAS Configuration Tasks window provides access to the most important configuration tools for your Seagate server.

Launch the Configuration Tasks window

In the Windows tool bar, click the Seagate icon. The Configuration Tasks window opens.

Note: If you previously dismissed the window by checking Do not show this window at the next logon, you cannot open it through your Seagate server. You can open it by going to C:\windows\system32\oemoobe\oemoobe.exe

Monitor your Seagate system

Use the Seagate System Monitor to find information about disks, storage, speed, connectivity, network status, update status, and more.

• In the Configuration Tasks window, click Seagate System Monitor.

• Click the Seagate System Monitor icon on the desktop.

Configure the network

You can enable, disable, or provision the network connections on the server and manage how the server communicates with your network.

1. In the Configuration Tasks window, click Configure networking.
2. In the Network Connections window, enable, disable, or provision the network connections and manage how the server communicates with your network.

Change the domain name and workgroup

A name and workgroup are needed to allow Remote Desktop connections.

1. In the Configuration Tasks window, click Provide computer name and domain.
2. In the System Properties window, make your changes.

Enable automatic updating

1. In the Configuration Tasks window, click Enable automatic updating.
2. In the Windows Update window, select the options you want.

Send error reports to Microsoft

Sending error reports to Microsoft helps them improve WSS 2012.

• In the Configuration Tasks window, click Enable Windows Error Reporting.

In the Configuration Tasks window, click Seagate Support help.

Register your Seagate server

In the Configuration Tasks window, click Seagate Support registration.
