Forbes 2027 America’s Best Employers for Engineers, powered by Statista badge.

Engineering innovation has been at the heart of Seagate's story for more than four decades. Today, that commitment to technical excellence and employee development has earned the company recognition as #96 on Forbes America’s Best Employers for Engineers 2027 list, highlighting the environment Seagate has built for the people designing the future of data storage.

The award is based on an independent survey of more than 20,000 U.S. employees and over 900,000 employer evaluations collected over a three-year period. Conducted across organizations with at least 1,000 U.S. employees, the research evaluated employers using both personal recommendations from employees and public recommendations from industry peers, friends and family members, with employee feedback carrying the greatest weight. The top 200 organizations were recognized for fostering engaging and supportive environments for engineers. Seagate was recognized on this list in 2026 as #104.

The recognition reflects more than breakthrough technologies. It recognizes the culture, career opportunities and support systems that enable engineers to solve complex challenges on a global scale. At Seagate, engineers work across disciplines, including materials science, photonics, semiconductor development, AI, manufacturing, firmware and systems engineering to advance technologies that power the world's data infrastructure.

As demand for data continues to grow alongside cloud computing and artificial intelligence, engineering innovation has never been more important. Seagate teams are developing technologies that increase storage capacity, improve efficiency and help customers manage ever-expanding volumes of data. Recent advances in heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) and the Mozaic® platform demonstrate the scale of innovation driven by Seagate engineers every day.

The company also invests heavily in developing engineering talent. Every year, our Tech Review Innovation Summit brings together bold thinkers from across Seagate to share ideas and spark new thinking. Seagate’s Technology Innovators Circle recognizes technologists for breakthrough contributions, while the Technology Hall of Fame honors engineers whose inventions have shaped the company’s success. Seagate currently holds more than 3,700 active U.S. patents, reflecting the creativity and ingenuity of its global engineering community.

Beyond technical achievements, Seagate strives to create an environment where employees can thrive. The survey methodology assessed factors that included workplace quality, career development opportunities, company culture, compensation, working conditions, and pride in the organization’s products and mission.

For Seagate, this recognition is ultimately a reflection of its people. Every breakthrough in storage technology, advancement in manufacturing and innovation that helps customers unlock the value of their data begins with engineers who are passionate about solving difficult problems.

As the world generates more data than ever before, Seagate remains committed to building a workplace where engineers can continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
