Unlock / Remove the BitLocker password

 

Method 1 – Turn on auto-unlock (Drive is locked):

1. Go to “This PC” and look for the encrypted drive, right-click on the drive and select 'Unlock drive', enter the password

If you don't want to enter the password on this computer, you can click 'More options' and select 'Automatically unlock on this PC', click 'Unlock' and enter the password, the drive will not ask for the password as long as the password is not expired.

 

 

*Method 2 – Turn on auto-unlock (Drive is Locked):  (*Not available on Home edition of Windows 10 or 11)

1. Go to BitLocker Drive Encryption, Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > BitLocker Drive Encryption.

Select the drive

After decryption: 

Choose the drive you want to auto-unlock, ensure the drive already unlock and select 'Turn on auto-unlock'.

 

 

*Method 3 – Turn off BitLocker:  (*Not available on Home edition of Windows 10 or 11)

1. Go to BitLocker Drive Encryption, the Path: Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > BitLocker Drive Encryption.

Select the drive you want to turn off BitLocker, click 'Turn off BitLocker' after unlock drive.

 

If the drive has completely decrypted, it will display in 'BitLocker Drive Encryption' “BitLocker off”

 

You can now close the BitLocker Drive Encryption control panel if you like.
