"In establishing the Moscow collection point, we are providing Seagate's customers with yet another advantage in the Russian market," said Alastair Stewart, Seagate's sales director for eastern and central Europe. "Our authorized distributors can now process returned drives much more quickly and cheaply which benefits both them and their customers. Combined with our recent announcement of a five year warranty on all of our internal disc drive products, the establishment of the Moscow collection point further demonstrates that Seagate is constantly looking for ways to help its customers' develop their businesses. It is always our objective to add value in ways that are important to our partners and customers."
Previously, returned drives were shipped out of the country by distributors who had to pay for the shipping costs and deal with customs' and logistics issues. Now distributors save on time, cost and effort. Initially only Seagate's three authorized distributors - Asbis, Elko and eSys - have access to the collection point but Seagate plans to extend access to all of its customers in Russia.
