Seagate Named Drive of Choice in Asian Publications

Seagate Technology, the leading supplier of disc drives for Personal and Enterprise storage applications, today released a list of the numerous awards and endorsements its products have received from Asian press in the first quarter of 2001. Today's announcement is the latest example of the popularity of Seagate disc drives among industry experts around the world.

In January, the Barracuda ATA III was named as "Best Buy" by ASCII Digital Buyer Japan; the U Series drive was praised for its low acoustics by www.Yesky.com China; and PC World India called the Cheetah X15 "one helluva of a drive (the X15) has the muscles to drive your systems to a new high." Additionally, PC World Philippines singled out the Barracuda ATA III drive for its "big capacity, great speed" in the February issue and PC Shopper China gave its "Editor's Choice" to the Cheetah X15 in March

In Korea, on three separate benchmark tests, the Barracuda ATA III emerged on top and was selected as "Best Product" by K-Bench Online (March 2001) and PC Sarang (February 2001), and received "Best Choice" recognition from Technoa Online (February 2001). In addition, Aha PC Korea rated the Cheetah 36XL with a full five stars and called it "the fastest SCSI hard drive" in its March issue. The Cheetah 36XL also received a 4.5 star rating with Mac Madang Korea (March 2001), and HOW PC Korea cited the U Series disc drive as an "outstanding product."

Seagate drives garnered three product awards and significant recognition in Taiwan during the quarter. The Cheetah X15, which was named "Editor's Choice" in PC Shopper Taiwan last year, was voted #1 among the Editor's Choices this year. PC DIY Taiwan gave the Barracuda ATA III a "Recommended Buy"in its review; and the Cheetah 36XL was tagged "the drive with perfect performance for servers" by PC Magazine Taiwan.
